NLC President Joins us for Lunch

Melodee-Colbert-Kean-NLC-150x200Attendees at this year’s Capital Conference will enjoy a luscious luncheon on Wednesday, topped off with a presentation from the National League of Cities president. After having served as first vice president, Melodee Colbert-Kean was elected NLC president in 2015. She brings a lot of experience into this position. She served Joplin, MO as both a councilmember and mayor. In fact, she was Missouri’s first female African American mayor and the first African American mayor of Joplin. During her tenure as mayor, she played a vital role in helping her city rebuild after the 2011 tornado.

Now, as NLC president, Colbert-Kean is responsible for directing the organization’s advocacy, education, research, and membership activities. At our luncheon, she will share how she plans to shape NLC’s priorities. Learn more about Melodee Colbert-Kean.
