City Clerk | City of East Lansing
Marie Wicks has spent the past 20+ years in the public and nonprofit sectors, working at the Michigan Municipal League followed by a 12-year tenure with the City of East Lansing as assistant city manager and city clerk. In early 2018, Marie joined the Michigan Bureau of Elections as a trainer, traveling around the state teaching local and county clerks elections administration. She retired (the first time) in 2019 and stayed active in elections, working for the City of East Lansing. Upon invitation, she returned to work full time in February 2023 as interim city clerk initially and has agreed to stay on through at least 2024. Marie holds a bachelor’s degree in public law and government and a master in public administration from Eastern Michigan University. She is very much looking forward to retiring “again” to enjoy time with family, pickleball, and knitting.
