Everybody likes to be heard. If you go to a meeting and offer your thoughts and insights on a project, it’s nice to know that they’ll be thoughtfully considered and not end up in the circular file. It’s the same with the residents of our communities. If they feel like they will have a hand in shaping the final product, they’re much more likely to invest their time and energy into planning and implementing a community project.
Suzanne Schulz, managing director of design, development and community engagement for the City of Grand Rapids, has led numerous initiatives that benefited from the involvement of residents. In Wednesday afternoon’s general session, she will share helpful approaches and tips to get your residents involved in facilitating positive change in their community.
