Traverse City is much more than the sleepy tourist town of yesteryear. Jump on a mobile workshop and experience for yourself how the city has transformed into a wildly-popular regional and national destination! You’ll have a chance to choose one of seven workshops that each showcase a different aspect of Traverse city’s appeal.
Several workshops focus on the downtown area. Take a walking tour and see how the city’s progressive vision now draws people from all over the country to its downtown shops, restaurants, and waterfront. Cruise over to the city’s west end and get a glimpse of the League’s exciting PlacePlans project along Kids Creek. Theater buffs can get a behind-the-curtains look at the historic State Theatre and learn how volunteers keep the city’s cultural scene alive. Or take a walk along the 8th Street corridor and see this work-in-progress area through the eyes of an accomplished city planner.
If you’re in the mood to venture out of town a bit, hop on the bus to Grand Traverse Commons, a unique historic preservation and adaptive reuse of the former Traverse City State Hospital. Or stretch your legs on a scenic tour through the fabulous Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, or a bike ride along miles of beautiful trails.
The mobile workshops are free, but you must sign up to participate. Don’t miss out! Sign up now.
